The Green Evening Requiem has entered the studio to record their second full-length album; Decomposer. The sessions are being held at Audiolux, in Philadelphia, with engineer Brian McKay. Guitarists Shane Madden and Chris Grigg, along with
drummer Evan Madden, will complete tracking over the next six weeks, for a tentative March album release. The Decomposer album consists of seven tracks, to be announced in the coming weeks.

08/03/09:

Thanks to everyone who has downloaded the new album so far.

Madden and Madden have been writing the next album, Decomposer, steadily for the last seven months, with some help from Grigg. We plan to enter the studio this fall.

Grigg is currently writing the next Woe record, and Madden and Madden hit the road with Woods of Ypres for the second half of August. The Green Evening Requiem reconvenes in the autumn to record and return to the stage.

1. A Poison Tree
2. Affliction
3. If Ever So
4. Severance
5. Atlantis in Winter
6. The Human Nebula
7. Bastards of Atlas

Recently, the decision was made to release the album for download only, on a "pay whatever you want" basis, in order to make the music immediately available and affordable for all. Visit greenevening.com to download. We are very happy to present you with Bastards of Atlas, the first full-length album by The Green Evening Requiem. We thank everyone for all the support that we've been shown, especially over this past year.

We are thrilled to finally have our first album finished and available!
The recording process began with founding guitarist Joe Colasante leaving the band immediately after completing his guitar takes. The recording process ended with guitarist/keyboardist Joe Winiarksi leaving the band due to irreconcilable differences, thus forcing the remaining members to mix the album from scratch over a few short weeks. Between those two points, The Green Evening Requiem played a number of awesome shows, including with Amorphis, Enslaved, Samael, Virgin Black, Naglfar, Dark Funeral, Daath, Gwynbleidd, Syrrah, Mortal Decay, Dirt Worshipper,
Bubonic Bear, and Sil Veth.

Over the past year, the current members of The Green Evening Requiem have also stayed active with other projects, including Woe, Woods of Ypres, Unrest, and Cloud Minder.

The follow up album, Decomposer, is currently being written by Madden, Madden, and Grigg. We are very proud of the new material so far, and we expect to have Decomposer out by the end of the summer. We are far into the writing process and the begining stages of demoing. Expect a few Decompser song demos to be posted this spring!

01/08/09:

Joe Winiarski has left The Green Evening Requiem due to irreconcilable differences. The remaining members are now remixing their album for immediate release, and are well into the writing of a follow up record, also slated for release this year.

Joe Winiarski filled in on guitar for The Green Evening Requiem at a 2006 show with Green Carnation and Beyond The Embrace. Shortly thereafter he joined the band on keyboard, but gradually moved to guitar as founding guitarist Joe Colasante exited the band. Joe Winiarski performed live with The Green Evening Requiem for 3 years.

11/18/07: The instrument tracks for the album have all been recorded. We have begun vocal sessions. Studio footage will be made available for your enjoyment.

11/14/07: Founding guitarist Joseph Colasante has left The Green Evening
Requiem. Joe's musical and personal focus has moved away from ours
and he can no longer invest himself creatively with the band.
Therefore Joe has left on good terms and pursues another path.

Joe has been a driving musical force behind the band since he first
started writing and recording with Evan Madden in 1998. Joe's guitar
style and aesthetic values have definitively shaped the musical
atmosphere and song-writing style of The Green Evening Requiem.

All of Joe's guitar tracks for the upcoming album have been completed,
thus tying up all loose musical ends. He can now say that every song
he's ever written for The Green Evening Requiem has been recorded.

An important era for the band ends, and another begins.
Keyboardist/guitarist Joe Winiarski is playing full-time guitar for
the time being or perhaps permanently. We are currently seeking the
right person to join The Green Evening Requiem as a new member. We
are not looking to replace Joe Colasante, but we want someone who
truly understands our musical approach and sound. Most importantly,
someone who is dedicated to, and passionate about, the music we play.
Interested musicians should e-mail us at greenevening@gmail.com
